Pride In Our Place Autumn 1

Brief Overview Autumn 1 

 

Come and See - Children will be exploring the themes of "New Beginnings" and Baptism during RE lessons.  

 

English - We will be exploring both fiction and non fiction texts. 

We will use these texts to develop reading and writing skills:

What the Ladybird Heard by Julia Donaldson

Way Back Home by Lina Schwamkrug

James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

 

SPAG - Consolidation of Year 1 grammar

Nouns, adjectives, noun phrases and verbs

 

Spelling - Year 1 and 2 Common Exception Words

Maths - Children will begin with place value:

  • recognise the place value of each digit in a two digit number (10s, 1s)
  • identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations, including the number line
  • compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs

 

Geography - Children will be learning about the UK, the British Isles and the city of Liverpool. They will begin to develop an understanding of the place they are from and it's location in the world.

 

Science - Children will be learning about the uses of everyday materials, such as, metal, wood, plastic, glass and fabric.

 

Art and Design - Self Portrait and Picasso

 

PE - Gymnastics

 

ICT - Modeling and simulation

 

Jigsaw - Being Me in My World
