Jack and the Beanstalk 

Normally at this time of year we would be focusing on stories like Jack and the Beanstalk and Jasper’s Beanstalk. If you can get hold of any beans to plant and watch them grow, this will help children across a number of areas of the curriculum (Understanding the World, Shape, Space and Measure). The children could keep a bean diary, drawing pictures of the changes and measure the growth each week and record. 

 

bbc.co.uk/teach class clips KS1 have short videos of the story too. You can search for it in the toolbar.
