  • Message from Sefton Active for Holiday Period

    Thu 16 Jul 2020

Unfortunately Active Sefton are unable to offer delivery of our Be Active school holiday programme in its usual format during the summer break.  This therefore means there will be no physical delivery of sessions at our Leisure Centres or on the lake at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre.   Health and wellbeing are really important to us, especially during these times, and as such we will be launching our new virtual Be Active Programme on Monday 27th July.  This will include our Be Active coaches providing sessions for children and young people to try at home either by themselves or with close friends and family. There will be a range of activities delivered including yoga, sports, games and family fitness. We will be posting all sessions on our social media channels, and if there is something you would like to see please get in touch with the team using the details below. Our videos will be available to the public as soon as they are posted and will remain accessible throughout so we will continue to build up a library of exciting, fun ways to keep active during the summer holidays.

We are hoping that our coaches will be back delivering Be Active sessions in person for October half term. For more information or to keep up to date with what we have on offer please visit Facebook: Active Sefton, Instagram: active_sefton & Twitter: @activesefton, or email: Active.Sports@sefton.gov.uk.

  • OLSS Rainbow Smile Challenge for St Joseph's Hospice

    Sun 03 May 2020 J. Jenkins

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for all of your support and co operation at this strange time. We hope that you are all safe and well.

We hope that you are finding the work packs of good use. We will continue to add work onto the school webpage to support your children’s learning.

We have also decided as a school that we should do something to raise money for St Joseph’s Hospice. We have put together a Rainbow Smile Challenge calendar for the month of May. As you can see, there is a different challenge for children to complete each weekday. For each challenge they complete, we are asking you to submit a donation of 20p. The easiest way to do this would be to tick them upon completion, total them up at the end of May and then submit a donation to www.justgiving.com/olssrainbowsmile

We would love to see pictures of the children completing these challenges! Please upload them onto the blog, or tag us in your tweets. We look forward to seeing your challenges and raising money for a fantastic cause.

    Yours Sincerely

    J. Jenkins

    Mrs J. Jenkins

  • New School Blog on the Website

Wed 15 Apr 2020 Mrs Jenkins

We are really missing seeing our lovely children and families and  hope everyone is keeping well and staying safe.

We have just introduced a blogging page on our website so that teachers can keep in touch with our children and families more directly. You will find it under the Children's Menu- Home Learning -Class Blog. Over the next few days, teachers will be creating accounts for all our children from Y1-Y6, (Foundation will set up a combined site for parents).

They will message you with the details of how you can log your child on soon, so keep checking the Parent App.

If you know someone who hasn't downloaded this yet, please ask them to do so as they will miss out on important information over the coming weeks.
Watch this space for more communication and keep checking the website and class pages.

  • School Closure and Communication Update

Mon 30 Mar 2020 Mrs Jenkins

    SCHOOL CLOSURE and COMMUNICATION UPDATE

It has been a long week since we have not been open to all children and we have missed seeing them and all our families. From Monday 30th March 2020 the school will be closed to all children as alternative arrangements have been made by the few key worker parents, who we were supporting with care last week.

This week teachers have been busy updating the school website and signposting children and families to various websites that can be accessed on line to help your child continue to keep up with their learning for part of the day. (You must take a look at Year 3's Class page week 2. We have a special super hero teaching us!)

Any updates we have about any changes to the current situation we will put on our website. If you are not following our school Twitter account, please follow as we will also be putting updates and messages on this. (@OurLadyStarSea.) Also most of your child’s teachers have also got their class twitter account, so look out for them and follow them directly. As you know we have our Teachers2parents text service that we use to text short messages to you and you can reply through. However, this service only allows a very short text and often we need to say more.

We have recently launched our updated Parent Apps service which the majority of our parents are active within. This app gives us the facility to upload newsletters and longer messages to you. So please download the app and look for our school name. Then we can invite you to join.

With all of these ways of communication, please be aware that the school is closed and office staff, senior leaders and teachers will not be monitoring texts and messages every day. Please be patient with us and be assured that we will be in touch as soon as we can.

Please continue to look after your selves, washing your hands and ensuring your child does too; staying safe and keeping a social distance if you have to go out.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the other side of these dark days.

    Yours Sincerely

    Mrs J. Jenkins
